Beautifully Handcrafted Rustic Accessories

A division of The Finer Things, Allegany Originals produces superb rustic accessories, all made one at a time by hand. We collect our materials from leftover woods left by local logging operations. Our woods are all native Oregon species - cedar, alder, fir, and myrtlewood, which grows only in southern Oregon coastal regions. We make birdhouses, feeders, benches, plant stands, planters, and trellises using hand carved tenon construction and Gorilla Glue, which makes for incredibly strong joints that will last virtually forever. All pieces are made by hand in our shop which overlooks the west fork of the Millicoma River in the forests of Allegany, Oregon. For impeccable craftsmanship at a reasonable price, Allegany Originals is your best choice for rustic pieces that can be passed from generation to generation and will always be appreciated for their timeless beauty, as well as the obvious time and care that went into making them. Handmade Cedar Birdhouse

This completely original design is handcrafted with a sturdy interior frame and then covered in hand-shaped cedar bark shingles. the entire piece is then treated with natural danish oil to produce a lovely, water resistant finish. While the birdhouse can be used outdoors, many of our customers put them in the house on a table, mantel or anyplace where their beauty can be seen and appreciated.

Handmade Cedar/Myrtlewood Birdfeeder

Another original design, this lovely hanging birdfeeder is made from hewn cedar log slabs and myrtlewood posts and seed enclosure. Hand-carved tenon joints and pegged construction make this piece not only extremely handsome but also incredible sturdy. The feeder is sanded to a nice lustre and finished with two coats of hand-rubbed natural danish oil. We have ours hung where we can watch the swallows, robins, and jays visit all year long.

Handmade Cedar Plant Stand/Bench

Our cedar plant stand also makes a sturdy bench. The top is made from a hewn cedar log slab and the legs are cedar poles with hand-carved tenons that make for a sturdy constructions. Surfaces have been sanded to a nice lustre and finished with two coats of hand-rubbed danish oil. This is a wonderfully handcrafted piece for a very reasonable price. Sorry, the planter is not included.
