NOT YOUR EVERYDAY MAILBOX!
These cheery, colorful variations on the typically black, white, or aluminum-colored mailbox comes on standard-sized, U.S. Postmaster approved mailboxes featuring designs created and signed by Chicago-area artist and craftswoman Cindy Wojdyla. Certainly an unusual and unlikely to be duplicated gift idea.
The designs are rendered in weather and fade-resistant materials and the theme is continued on the door of each box, with paw prints on the Cat mailbox and petals on the Sunflower mailbox. The mailbox measures 19" long x 8.5" high.
The idea of decorating mailboxes began as a personal hobby after Ms. Wojdyla, then an advertising art director, and her husband moved from New York City to a Connecticut suburb. The house they purchased had been lived in by the previous owners for many years and was thus refered to as "the Murphy House". To dramatize the fact that the house now had new owners, Ms. Wojdyla began putting up unusual mailboxes and changing them with the seasons, a ritual she continues here in the Chicago area even in the winter because as she puts it, "Changing a mailbox is easy with one of those battery powered screwdrivers."
