"Who gives this woman," do you say?
Has the time already come to give her away?

It seems only yesterday God gave her to me;
And tho she was given, she wasn't free.
I've paid for her with worry, care and love.
I've earned his gift with all of the above.

The effort was worth it; and I'll never scold;
For everything I gave, she gave back threefold
I've gathered my memories year after year;
And with those I'll always keep her near.

I now give her to you on this, your wedding day;
And for this gift the price you will pay
Will be your worry, care and love.
You must earn my gift with all of the above.

She is now yours to have and to hold
