"Into The Light"

I thought of all the troubles and trials
That I had faced throughout my life-
Illness, death and heartbreak
All kinds of troubles and strife-

No matter how high the mountain
Of troubles that never seemed to stop
Somehow I found the courage
To make it to the top-

"God," I said, "as I look back
At the darkest times of my life
I don't remember seeing you there
To help me through my strife."

"My child," He said, "when you had sunk
into your darkest despair
Who do you think stood by your side
And refused to leave you there?"

"I took your hand and walked with you.
I encouraged you to continue your flight
As you struggled through the darkness,
Stumbling toward the light."

"When you fell I lifted you.
When you faltered I gave you a shove.
I soothed your broken heart;
And surrounded you with my love."

"I never gave up and left you
As you fought your desperate fight
Climbing out of the darkness
Back into the light."
