Ann's signature roses form the script letter "shin" in Hebrew which stands for "shadai" hand (implies hand of G-d). This is taken from the traditional Jewish jewelry designs that had a hand with an eye in the middle to ward off the eveil eye. Modern jewelry just has the "shin". Ann's last name is Shamash which also starts with the letter "shin". It just happens to fall into place that her mother's last name is Rose.
